Dear Krakeneers,
Our journey in this sea-world has started nearly one year and a half ago. Thanks to you, players, the format has spread, reaching unexpected results: biggest Italian commander event ever (by far, 99 players), being present as a main event to 2 DTCs in a row, having different communities spread around Europe etc etc..
That said, our beloved sea monster is born for only one purpose: give to you, players of commander format, the possibility to enjoy a 30hp environment as no one was representing it when the Mtg Duel Commander community switched to 20hp.
(Un)Luckily, this is not true, not anymore. Wizards has created a banlist to take care of a 30hp format. At the very beginning, we were skeptical about their work, but, month by month, mtgo format has evolved and, right now, the 2 banlists are pretty similar.
Even if the online-based format has its limits (deathclock, Best of 1 games, some infinite-loop combo not available/supported – e.g. high tide), it is the true format supported by WotC and its gaming environment is not far from the Leviathan’s one (again, the banlists are pretty similar).
So, as the Kraken existence is, right now, a factor to divide the community rather than to gather it (as it was in the past) and as the real purpose of the Leviathan format - to offer an alternative – is not true anymore, we, the committee, decided to put an end to our journey.
This means that, starting from today, we won’t update Leviathan banlist and we’ll no longer organize event with our banlist.
Beware, players, we are not abandoning you. The Kraken is not dead, it is just back to its ancestral sleep; now it’s time to give mtgo its chance and to support WotC format, but if a day you, players, will ask for an alternative, we’ll be back, stronger than ever. Because WotC is the official ruler of its game, but you, players, are the ones who make this game a reality.
