701.18g Sometimes the best way to word something so humans can understand it conflicts with the most logical wording. Winds of Abandon is a good example. It should cause each player to search their library once, not several times, but how do you word that well in a way that works with overload? How do you word it clearly at all, really? The solution we landed on is to make the rules support how it should work and not worry too much about whether you can guess the answer from reading the text; the difference only matters in edge cases, mostly involving Aven Mindcensor.


TL;DR: Lorsqu'on overload Winds of Abandon, chaque adversaire cherche 1 seule fois et peut trouver jusqu'à X terrains, X étant le nombre de créatures qu'il contrôlait et qui ont été exilées par Winds of Abandon.

Autant trouver 1 terrain de base dans les 4 cartes du dessus de notre bibliothèque n'est pas impossible, autant en trouver plusieurs est fort improbable, ce qui fait que Mindcensor efface presque totalement la contrepartie de Winds of Abandon, la transformant en %4%W%W Final Judgment asymétrique.

A contrario, %1%W Leonin Arbiter ne synergise pas bien avec Winds, car payer 1 seule fois %2 permettra à votre adversaire d'ignorer sa capacité statique jusqu'à la fin du tour et donc de chercher autant de terrains que de créatures exilées sous son contrôle.
